For the ankle that keeps giving way

Your ankle didn't heal. It just stopped swelling.

Rolled it once, years ago. Sprained it again since. Now you don't fully trust it on grass, stairs, or anything sideways. That's not bad luck — that's an unfinished rehab.

Rebuild it properly →

Chapter 01 · Sound familiar?

The sprain ended. The weakness stayed.

You've sprained the same ankle two, three, five times — always that one.
Stepping off a curb wrong sends a jolt of "here we go again."
You've quietly stopped trusting it — cutting, jumping, uneven ground.
There's a brace or tape roll living permanently in your gym bag.
You did the physio sheet. Three band exercises, twice a day. It didn't change anything.
You've started calling them "my weak ankles" — like it's a personality trait.

None of that is a life sentence. It's what an ankle does when the injury healed but the rebuild never happened.

Chapter 02 · Why it keeps happening

Sprains heal fast. They heal messy.

When a ligament tears, the body patches it in a hurry — with scar tissue. That patch job is quick, but it's disorganized and weak, and the ankle it belongs to has learned one thing above all: be careful.

01

Rest stops the swelling

It doesn't rebuild strength, and it doesn't teach the patched tissue to take load. That's why "wait it out" keeps producing the next sprain.

02

Tissue remodels under load

Progressively loaded tissue reorganizes and gets stronger — that's the principle every serious rehab is built on. Load is the signal. No load, no rebuild.

03

Nobody loads the ankle

Knees get squats. Backs get deadlifts. Ankles get… three band exercises and a wobble board. The joint that needs the most deliberate loading gets the least.

Chapter 03 · I know, because I tried everything else

Needles, machines, massage — things done to my ankle

That's my leg on the table. After a sprain bad enough to put me in a wheelchair, I did the full tour: electro-needling, passive treatment, waiting rooms. Some of it helped me feel better for a day. None of it made the ankle stronger.

The turning point wasn't another treatment. It was the day I started treating my ankle like a muscle that had missed years of training — and loading it, carefully, on film.

Chapter 04 · The rebuild, documented

I filmed the whole way back — wheelchair to sprint

Every stage of my own rebuild is on camera: the first strict isolation work, the loading, the balance and gait work, the return to running, the shuttle tests. The course is that system, in the order I actually used it.

Early targeted cable ankle work, close up
First: wake it upStrict, small, targeted work — teaching the patched tissue to take load again.
Loaded calf strength work on a machine
Then: build reservesCalf, tibialis, and every direction the ankle moves — strength it can spend when the ground surprises you.
Sprint start position on a running track
Finally: earn it backRunning, jumping, cutting — reintroduced step by step until the hesitation is gone.

The result

An ankle that plants at full speed — on purpose

Shuttle sprints around a marker, filmed in slow motion. The same ankle from the treatment table, braking and firing back the other way without a flicker of hesitation.

And some proof you can't fake

It ends with hanging from a bar — by your feet

This isn't in the program. It's just what an ankle can do once it stops being the weak link: full bodyweight, hooked by the feet, completely relaxed.

You don't need to want this trick. You need what's underneath it — an ankle you never have to think about.

For people past the acute stage of an ankle sprain and cleared to train. This course documents my process and the principles behind it — it's education, not medical advice, and results depend on you and your ankle. If you're freshly injured or unassessed, see a clinician first.
